COURSE IN N.Z.
Teachers From Philippines Three schoolteachers from the Phillippines left for home yesterday after completing an intensive wood and metalworking course at the Christchurch Technical Institute. The teachers spent 10 months at the institute studying advanced techniques in the use of machinery which will be supplied by New Zealand to the Philippines under the Colombo Plan. The teachers visited industrial and educational establishments and made a comprehensive study of New Zealand methods of house construction. They also attended a national safety course and a concrete course and took various other courses by correspondence. They obtained film projectionists’ certificates, produced technical film strips, made visual aid models and practised various duplication methods. During their stay they were guests of the Christchurch Maori community.
