PAPER BAGS FOR REFUSE
Proposal For Christchurch
Refuse collection in disposable paper bags instead of rubbish tins is being investigated by the Christchurch Junior Chamber, which has called a meeting of interested bodies to discuss the proposal. The invitation says the method is being used in other parts of New Zealand and investigations so far indicate that it would benefit the city authorities and householders. Benefits mentioned are: 1. A clean and simple system of collection, saving both time and manpower. 2. A saving in overseas exchange through using a New Zealand-made product.
3. A saving in capital expenditure on trucks as special vehicles would no longer be required.
