South Canterbury Wins Aero Club Rally
With one competition still to be run. the South Canterbury Aero Club is the clear winner of the Royal New Zealand Aero Club’s rally held at Ashburton on Saturday and yesterday. The aerobatics competition could not be held because of deteriorating weather. The winner of each competition will represent the Southern area at the Royal New Zealand Aero Club’s pageant at New Plymouth in March.
Aero clubs from throughout the South Island competed at the pageant held at Ashburton en the week-end. The Southland Aero Club won the Wigram Cup, which is competed for by a team of four from each club. The Southern Districts Club was second and the Otago Club was third. The Herald Cup for senior navigation was won by the South Canterbury Club. The Canterbury Club was second and the Southern Districts Club was third. The Bledisloe Trophy was won by the South Canterbury Club, Otago was second and Southern Districts Club was third. The Boys' Cup for senior landing was won bv South Canter, bury Club, Canterbury was second and Hokitika Club was third. South Canterbury won the Newman Trophy for women’s landing competitions. Southern
Districts was second and Otago third. The G.M. Spence Trophy for forced landings was won by the South Canterbury Club. Southern Districts was second and Southland was third.
