Moorhouse Post Office
Sir, —It is a source of wonder to many who use it how the post office in Walker street is called “Moorhouse.” Did Walker street have some historical connection with the Moorhouse family, or was Moorhouse avenue associated with the Walkers? The Post Office authorities impress upon all the need to address mail clearly in order to speed delivery, and then confuse the public by giving this name to a post office which is neither in an avenue nor any area called Moorhouse. It would be interesting to know why. —Yours etc. ALBION WRIGHT. October 31, 1966. [The Chief Postmaster (Mr M. E. Wilson) states that the names of several suburban Post Offices, including Moorhouse, are at present “under investigation.”]
