Bananas From Ecuador
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 4. One and a quarter million Ecuadorian bananas will be distributed throughout New Zealand in a mammoth transportation operation next week. The 1500-ton shipment is due in Wellington in the Belgian Reefer on Monday, November 7. It is the first Ecuadorian banana shipment to be distributed nationally from Wellington. Sixty-five large railway waggons will be required in the North Island and 34 in the South Island to distribute the 122,000 cartons of bananas to 26 points, from Whangarel to Invercargill.
Grant Made.—A grant of £lOO was made to the Canterbury Progress League by the Malvern County Council yesterday.
