INFORMED PUBLIC
“Concept Of Service” (N.Z. Press Association) TIMARU, November 4. The Ombudsman (Sir Guy Powles) believes that administrative justice requires that the fullest possible information be given to the citizen, so that in the decisions he has to make from day to day he can act with the full knowledge of what authority requires of him, or what choices of action are open to him. Sir Guy Powles made this point in Timaru last night when he addressed 63 members of the New Zealand Institute of Local Authority Administration, who are attending their annual convention.
“This is more than just public relations—it springs from a fundamental concept of service,” he said. “How true this is has been exemplified by the remarkable change we have seen come over the Inland Revenue Department in very recent time.”
