Tour Match Drawn
(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) BULAWAYO. The opening tour match between Australia and the Rhodesian Invitation XI ended in a draw on Thusday when bad light stopped play. The Invitation XI declared its second innings at 298 for six, leaving Australia a target of 195 runs in 131 minutes to win. Heavy rain set in at the tea break and play was stopped for 57 minutes. At the close, Australia was 62 for three. Scores: Invitation XI 107 and 298/6 dec. (K. C. Bland 94, H. Gardiner 86; G. D. McKenzie 2/29), Australia 211 and 62/3.
P. Burge Was Mainstay (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) BRISBANE. The test batsman, P. J. Burge, was the mainstay of the Queensland team in its first innings against Western Australia in a Sheffield' Shield game at Brisbane yesterday. Queensland scored 203, Burge hitting 50 in 112 minutes, with seven fours. He was caught off the bowling of the former English player, G. A. R. Lock, who finished with two for 23.
