Clash With Cole: Moore Keen

The former double world champion speedway motor-cyclist, R. Moore (Christchurch), would definitely race at Templeton this season probably in about six weeks the president of the Christchurch Speedwav Association (Mr R. Lang) said yesterday.

Moore was keen to race after his "wall of death” commitments had been completed in six weeks, Mr Lang said. He, among others, would be matched against the association’s new resident rider from England, H. Cole (Kid Bodie), who had shown outstanding ability in his first practice a few days ago. Cole will make his first competitive appearance at the Templeton Stadium tonight. He has not been entered in the feature scratch race for

the four fastest riders, but will have ample opportunity to prove his worth in several four-lap handicap events. Enthusiasts who saw him ride at practice this week are

t convinced that his ability is ' little short of that displayed I by I. Mauger, now the European champion, the resident i rider last season. Tonight he ; will ride a J.A.P. machine,

specially prepared for Moore by S. Burt last season. His own machine is expected by sea in about six weeks. The other English rider who was to have accompanied Cole to New Zealand, R. Triggs, probably would be resident rider at Templeton next season, Mr Lang said. He had ridden with Moore at Wimbledon and was regarded by the Christchurch world champion as a very good rider and a “trier aill the way.”

Triggs had withdrawn at the eleventh hour because his racing machine was required in Europe until near the time of departure. This meant he would have had to go to New Zealand without it and he had decided to withdraw.

Negotiations had begun to bring R. Andrews (England) and P. Moore (Australia) to Christchurch to race against Moore, Cole and top Christchurch riders. Both Andrews and P. Moore were riding for the Wester & Springs Stadium in Auckland this season.
