Boy Refuses To Emigrate To N.Z. With Family

(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) LONDON, Oct. 31. A 15-year-old boy’s love of England forced his family to sail without him for a new life in New Zealand, the “Sunday Mirror” reports. Kenneth McGuinness slipped away from his home in Portsmouth 24 hours before the family was to leave Southampton in the Northern Star and no one noticed he had gone. Then his father found a hastily-scribbled note, which read: “My heart is in England. 1 cannot go with you. “I will visit you in New Zealand when I am older and earn enough money.” The police were called in but Kenneth had still not been found when Mr McGuinness, his wife and six other

children sailed on Thursday. Last night Kenneth turned up at an uncle’s home in Portsmouth.

“I have not inquired too deeply into where Kenneth has been,” the uncle said. “It has been agreed that he will stay in this country and live with his grandparents in Portsmouth.”
