GAOLED FOR DRIVING

Disqualified Till 1975 (N.Z. Frees Association) AUCKLAND, October 31. A man already disqualified from driving until September, 1974, was disqualified for a further 12 months and gaoled for three months, by Mr M. C. Astley, S.M., today. The man. Wiki Harrison, aged 38, quarry worker, pleaded guilty to driving white disqualified. Traffic Officer J. Kerr, prosecuting, said Harrison was stopped while driving with an expired warrant of fitness near Kaltaia and was found to be a disqualified driver. Harrison said he was driving the car because the person to whom the vehicle had been lent was unfamiliar with it

The Magistrate said Harrison was currently serving a term of six months’ imprisonment for theft and had appeared four times previously for driving while disqualified. It appeared he had not given up driving at all. The three months’ prison sentence was cumulative on the sentence being served.
