Revaluation Amounts In Decimals And Pounds
The new value for every property in the Riccarton and Lyttelton boroughs, Thnaru City and the Kowai County, had been shown in both dollars and pounds in anticipation of the change to decimal currency next year, said the branch manager of the Valuation Department in Christchurch (Mr V. R. Aitken). The new Riccarton capital value is £12,932,545, the unimproved value is £4,916,040 and the value of improvements is £8,016,505. The figures at March 31 last on the basis of the October, 1961, revaluation were:—Capital, £10,794,150;
unimproved, £3,336,625; and improvements, £7,457,525. Lyttelton was last revalued as at October, 1961, and the values at March 31 last on this basis were: Capital, £4,235,015; unimproved, £1,048,015; improvements, £3,187,000. The new values by comparison are: Capital, £4,767,515; unimproved, £1,364,100; improvements, £3,403,415. The new capital value of Timaru City is £42,041,040 compared with the March 31 las’ figure on the 1961 revision basis of £37,161,270. Kowai County values have moved from £4,959,430 capital to £6,976,910, from £2,089,870 unimproved to £3,500,090, and from £2,869,560 improvements to £3,476,820. Mr Aitken said that for Riccarton and Lyttelton Boroughs district valuers would be available at the department’s office in the Automobile Association building in Hereford street, in the first week of November to meet owners who might wish to discuss their new values. The district valuer for Riccarton was Mr M. D. Kilpatrick, and for Lyttelton was Mr A. P. Faulls. In Timaru, he said, the district valuer (Mr A. J. Marett) would be available during the first half of November at the department’s office in the State Insurance building. The Kowai district valuer (Mr J. Gregan) would be at Balcairn at the Kowai County Council office on November 14.
