DEAD MAN NAMED
The name of the man whose decomposed body was found in a gully below Victoria Park on Sunday afternoon was released by the police yesterday. He was John Byrne, aged 87, a retired bootmaker, of Christchurch. Detective-Inspector M. T. Churches said that no suspicion is attached to his death. An inquest for identification was opened and adjourned sine die.
Theft From House.—A taperecorder. valued at £5O, was stolen from a house in Sandown crescent yesterday.
