DRY VALLEY VISIT
Geologist In Antarctic Dr. M. Gage, professor of geology at the University of Canterbury, will make a short visit to the Antarctic this month to see the work of former students now in the Antarctic division of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research and other units. “I am particularly keen to see the Dry valley area. There is more for a geologist to see because there is less ice," he said. As a glaciologist. Professor Gage is also interested in the area as the former extension of a glacier. Another field of observation will be the effects of frost action on the movement of soils in the Antarctic.
