Part Agreement In Tongariro Talks
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 1. Agreement has been reached on the basic rate of pay for workers to be employed on the Tongariro power scheme tunnel project, but negotiations have not been completed.
The resumed negotiations between the Federation of Labour and the Italian firm Codelf a-Cogefar entered their second day in Wellington today. The discussions are for a
(composite agreement covering pay and working conditions for all the workers to be emi ployed on the scheme. The F.O.L. president (Mr IT. E. Skinner) said allowances and some conditions still had to be discussed. Discussions would be continued in Auckland on Tuesday and [Wednesday next week. There had been a substantial basis of agreement and the most serious difficulties I had been overcome.
