Dunraven Pleases
‘‘The Press” Special Service WANGANUI. Dunraven looked in excellent order at Wanganui yesterday when he completed his final trial for Saturday’s Awatea Handicap at Trentham. He won the corresponding event last week-end and looks to have improved with that race. Although Roley finished a head in front after yesterday’s trial, Dunraven was not extended and recorded an encouraging effort. Trials were held on the course proper 30ft out. The track was cutting out. Roley (Cleaver) quickly went clear of Dunraven (O’Connor) when they left the five-furlongs. Dunraven closed the gap nearing the turn and was working kindly a head behind Rqley at the finish. They ran the full distance in lmin s*sec, the last three in 38 2-ssec. Answer t ©Correspondent.— “Inquiry,” Christchurch: A spokesman for the Canterbury Jockey Club said that bookmakers ceased working at Riccarton in 1910.
