Catapult Impresses
"The Frees" Special Service HASTINGS. Catapult, which is engaged tn the Desert Gold Stakes at Trentham on Saturday. Impressed in her final gallop at Hastings yesterday. Satapult's recent form has been unimpressive, but she has been improved by racing and if the track is firm she could take part in the finish. The course proper was hard with the trestles 10 feet beyond the proper distance. The plough was deep and slightly holding. On the course proper. Catapult (B S. Dodds) ran six furlongs, the full distance taking Imln 20sec. the last fiva Imin
fisec and the last three with Wig (Miss Wrigley) and Agash. in 39s ec. Catapult worked strongly over the last furlong. Her stablemate, Tinsel, an unlucky second in the Wellington Handicap, was given steady pacework. She is one of four horses which T. B. McNeil will take to Biccarton. Tinsel will contest the New Zealand Cup and will not have another race before then. Shady will also race in the New Zealand Cup at his next start, and Wig and Catapult will accompany them south. Wig will race in the Spring Plate and the New Zealand Oaks will be Catapult's main mission.
