OFFSHORE OIL RIG
Construction In Australia (N Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, Oct. 20. The first offshore oil drilling rig to be built in Australia is under construction at shipyards in Whyalla, South Australia. The rig, to be called Ocean Digger, will cost about £2.400.000. It is being built for the Ocean Drilling and Exploration Company of New Orleans. The company -vill operate the rig in Bass Strait on behalf of Esso Exploration and the Broken Hill Proprietory Company.
