10 Minutes On Farm
President Johnson and Mrs Johnson arrived at Mr G. H. Ormond Wilson’s woolshed at 4.40 p.m. today to watch a demonstration by three shearers. They left again at 4.50 p.m. Mr Johnson spent most of the time watching the shearers in action before a battery of 30 cameramen.
A dozen Romney ewes were shorn before he left for Ohakea air base. “Your sheep are bigger
and better than ours,” said Mr Johnson. Mrs Wilson said later that Mrs Johnson said: “I was just amazed. The sheep were almost skinned.”
Mr Wilson told Mr Johnson: “We still think this stuff is better than nylon.”
Mr Johnson presented Mr Wilson with a gold medallion bearing his likeness and Mrs. Wilson a history of America written by Lyndon B. Johnson.
