INSPECTORS PROMOTED

Inspectors G. E. Twentyman and B. Kelly, of the Christchurch police, have been promoted to the rank of chief inspector.

Chief Inspector Twentyman is the acting officer In charge of the Timaru police district. He is relieving Chief Inspector E. J. Trappitt, who Is on an administrative course at Ardmore.

Mr Twentyman will be transferred to Wellington soon. He joined the police in 1947, and was the seniorsergeant in charge of the Upper Hutt Police Station before being transferred to Christchurch on promotion to inspector three years ago.

Chief Inspector Kelly was transferred to Christchurch from Greymouth on promotion to the rank of inspector three years ago. He joined the police in 1949 and was the officer in charge of the third New Zealand Police contingent in Cyprus. He was the, recruiting officer for the South Island for a year and has been in charge of the prosecutions branch at Christchurch for some months. He will remain in Christchurch.
