Want To Go To China
'N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 19. Seven Americans have written to President Johnson at Government House asking if he will allow them to visit China. The Americans are a tour organiser, Mr D. Wynn, of Glendora. California, and six Texans, who are in New Zealand as part of a tour of the South Pacific. They decided to write to Mr Johnson after his speech in Honolulu in which he said Americans would keep alive the hope for a freer flow of ideas and people between China and the United States.
The party is spending tonight at Waitomo and will arrive in Wellington tomorrow, when Mr Wynn said, the group hoped to be given a reply to their request. Applications for a tour to China had been made to the United States State Department for several years without success, he said.
