Rugby Men Suspended
(N.Z. Press Association) PAEROA. The Thames Valley prop forward, G. V. Higgins, and the Bay of Plenty lock, M. Maniapoto, who were ordered off the field during the representative Rugby match between the two unions at Te Aroha on September 29, have been given a severe reprimand and stood down for the first competition match next season. The Thames Valley Rugby Union, at its meeting, confirmed the penalty which was imposed by a special meeting of the union's management committee after the game in which the incident took place. The referee, Mr B. Tracey, said in his report that he had warned both players concerned for fighting but they continued.
