IN THE ROUGH
By his dress, the American golfer, A. Palmer, at Balmacewan yesterday might have been mistaken for a competitor in the intermediate bogey match at one of the less renowned . Christchurch courses.
He wore a pair of grey slacks and a blue pullover which has seen some service. But not as much, obviously, as the ancient putter with which he was so seldom in accord. His many admirers enjoyed his practice, and the clinic he conducted with R. J. Charles ' just before the match began. This was amusing and instructive, and so was Palmer’s practice on the putting green, where he showed a decided thrust forward with the bottom hand at the moment of impact.
But even on the practice green, he had little luck with his putting.
