PRODUCTION RESUMED
Gutted Papanui Factory
Production in one department of the Sanitarium Health Food Company’s factory in Langdons road, which was gutted by fire on Tuesday of last week, started yesterday. The department, which makes Marmite, will be in full production again next Tuesday. Other departments will be producing again within a fortnight and all of them will be working again in a month, except the one producing Weetbix, which is being supplied from the North Island. The factory manager (Mr M. A. Butler) said yesterday that the help offered by the business community in Christchurch was greatly appreciated.
One local company had found jobs for eight women until they were needed again at the food factory.
