Man’s Rifle Taken
(N.Z. Press Association! WELLINGTON, October 19. Police today stopped a man and took a rifle from him in Kent terrace about an hour before President Johnson was scheduled to drive past. A police spokesman said tonight the man was asked to explain why he was carrying the rifle and his explanations were satisfactory. He had just bought the rifle and was taking it home. “It was apparently just an innocent coincidence. He was carrying his rifle at the wrong time and the wrong place,” the spokesman said.
