Fight Terms Accepted
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The British Empire professional light-weight boxing champion, B. Grant, has agreed to defend his title against M. Santos in Wellington. This was announced last night by the chairman of the Wellington Boxing Association (Mr B. F. O’Brien). Confirmation that Grant had accepted the association’s financial terms for a title fight in Wellington was received from Jamaica last night. Mr O’Brien said that whether the association proceeded with the contest depended on a meeting of the executive to be held within a few days. But it would be surprising, now that Grant has agreed to the association’s terms, if the executive vetoed the fight, he said. The bout would cost £7OOO to stage, he said. Grant, aged 26, has been a professional since 1959 and has Won 40 of 49 fights. Santos, aged 24, turned professional last year and has won 15 of 17 fights.
Women's Golf.— Auckland beat Waikato-King Country 11-10, with three games halved, in a women’s representative golf match played at Remuera yesterday.
