Wool Buyer’s Anniversary
Walter Hill and Sons (N.Z.), Ltd., a wool-buying firm which began its business on October 12, 1891, has issued a leaflet to mark its seventy-fifth anniversary tomorrow.
The leaflet contains a photostat copy of two entries in the diary of the founder. On October 12, 1891, the entry reads: “Took office and fit it up with desk and chairs, etc.”
The entry for October 13 says: “Into business sending out circulars to growers.” “In the wars of 1914-1918 and 1939-1945 our principals acted as controllers of the appraisement of the entire New Zealand wool clip during those periods,” says the leaflet.
