LYTTELTON VISIT
H.M.S. Leander will visitp Lyttelton from November 9 i to November 14. The ship < will probably be open to the : public between 2 p.m. and 5 ' p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, i November 12 and 13. The Leander is the name ship of her class. An im- i proved anti-submarine fri- i
| gate, she has a displacement of 2400 tons and a speed exceeding 30 knots. She carries a Wasp helicopter as well as a Seacat guided-mis-sile launcher. She is similar to H.M.N.Z.S. Waikato, and is a sister ship of H.M.S. Ajax, which recently visited Dunedin.
The Leander is commanded by Captain R. L. Everleigh, • R.N. While she is at Lyttel- ; ton her company will be entertained by the local branch of the Navy League, taken on bus trips, visit the Canteri bury Agricultural and Pas- ■ toral Association’s show, and attend races at Riccarton.
