LINCOLN CONCERT
High School [ Items r i Lincoln High School pupils ; recently presented a very successful concert to a large i audience in the school hall, i The programme included a wide variety of vocal and • orchestral music. . The massed choir of more ; than 120 pupils, accompanied ■ by the school orchestra and . conducted by Mr P. K. Brown. began the programme. Smaller choirs were conducted by Mr Brown and Mrs M. A. Johnson. The items varied from a spirited singing of songs from “My Fair Lady” to “Non Nobis Domine” by Roger Quilter. A feature of this part of the programme was a restrained and beautifully balanced rendering of “O Lovely Peace” by Handel, when the fifth form girls’ choir was accompanied by . oboe, flute and piano. i Solo items were given by . Kathryn Montgomery, a talented folk singer, and Brendan Dugan. These provided inter- ’ ludes between two rhythmic ’ dances presented by the girls. Special lighting effects and a ' black and white stage set de- ’ signed by Mr J. Tomlin em- : phasised the movement and 1 the costuming of the dances. ’ This part of the programme ended with the dance duet 1 from “Hansel and Gretel” by 1 Humperdinck. In the second part of the ■ programme, the school pre- ■ sented “Trial by Jury” by • Gilbert and Sullivan. The cast I made full use of the comedy, i The defendant was Rod Gard’ner and the bride, i Glenys Jones. Peter Malaquin, ’ as the judge, sang and acted with verve.
