Protest At U.N. As Indonesia Rejoins

(N.Z.P.A. Reuter—Copyright) NEW YORK, Sept. 28. Indonesia rejoined the United Nations today amid shouts of protest from nine leftist American teen-agers who invaded the General Assembly hall to denounce the mass slaughter of Indonesian Communists.

The demonstrators, four youths and five girls, brought the assembly’s work to a halt while guards struggled to restore order.

One of the group, bearing a large banner denouncing “United States puppets,” made for the rostrum, but was seized after a few yards. He was carried bodily from

the chamber while his companions shouted, “No seat for murderers in the United Nations —a million people killed by the Government,” and, “No seat for countries committing genocide.” The Indonesian delegation, headed by the Foreign Minister (Mr Adam Malik) was in the chamber during the incident and a television audience of thousands saw the demonstrators ejected. They were taken to a basement cell for questioning. A U.N. security official said they were members of an organisation called “Youth Against War and Fascism.” No charges were brought against them. They were escorted off the premises.

Indonesia’s return to the U.N. ended an absence of 19 months ordered by President Sukarno, ostensibly in protest against the Assembly’s election of Malaysia to membership of the Security Council.
