OFFICERS ELECTED
Life-Saving Society The Canterbury branch of the Royal Life-Saving Society at its annual meeting requested its executive to appoint a new honorary chief instructor and examiner. Mrs L. Piper, who has resigned from this position after 12 years, was presented with a gold watch. In the year 1959-60 she arranged examinations for 4066 awards—-the highest annual number during her term of office.
Officers elected were:—President, Mr V. G. Spiller; vicepresidents, seven were elected; chairman, Mr S. E. Nicol; secretary • treasurer, Miss D. Brown; executive committee, Mesdames L. Piper, B. Rowe, F. Roberts, C. Yorston, Misses M. Slade and L. Cox. Messrs M. R. Duckmanton, S. D. Tarrant, C. R. Buchanan; delegate to New Zealand Council, Mr Tarrant; delegate to Canterbury centre, Mrs L. Piper.
