BY-ELECTION IN KAIAPOI

Councillors Resign The resignations of two councillors, Messrs L. V. T. McEwan and C. Thompson, were accepted at last night’s meeting of the Kaiapoi Borough Council. The Town Clerk (Mr N. E. Clemens) said a by-election would be held between October 26 and November 2. He thought of holding the election on Friday, October 28, when most people were out and about. Generally, there were light polls on Saturdays. Cr. McEwan, Who had been on the council for seven years, resigned for personal reasons. Cr. Thompson, with 12 years’ service, resigned because of ill-health.
