The Philippine President, Fernando Marcos, last night defended his policy of sending troops to Vietnam as “defence of the Philippine people,” the Associated Press reported. “I do not know any other country as allergic to despotism as the Philippines,” he said. “And for this reason we have sent our troops to Vietnam.”
