Agriculture Dept Ball
Three hundred and fifty guests of the Department of Agriculture in the South Island met for its first annual ball in nine years This was held at the Hei Hei Country Club cabaret last week. The guests were welcomed by Mr A. R. Dick, of Christ, church. Twenty members of the West Coast division attended The official party included the district executive officer (Mr W. Willcox) and Mrs Willcox: the superintendent of the Horticultural Division (Mr F. Bailey) and Mrs Bailey, and Mr and Mrs M. E. Grenville. A presentation was made to Mr Dick for his organisation of the ball, and to Mrs A. McLaughlin “about whom the whole department revolves." Mrs McLaughlin has been the Christchurch city office telephone operator for 20 years.
