LEADERSHIP COURSE

Youth Council Plans A 12-hour leadership training course, organised by the Canterbury Youth Council, will be held in the Crippled Young Men’s Fellowship Club hall, Cashel street, on November 19, 21. 26 and 28. The course will include instruction on methods of teach ing, “buzz” groups and “brain-storming” games and activities, meeting procedure, and effective chairmanship, effective speaking and group control. There will also be dis. cushion groups and an open forum. At a meeting of a sub-com-mittee o fthe council, Mr 1.. J. Coughlan, the Canterbury youth activities officer, said the aim of the course would be to help next year’s lead ers of youth clubs to find out what leadership was and how to organise programmes. “Normally only about 24 people would be able to attend a leadership training course,” he said, “but with this type of course we are planning we will be able to in elude about 50 people at least.” Entry forms will be sent out by the council to all representatives of youth organisations on the council, and a fee of 5s will be charged.
