An inquiry was held into the breaking of Nigger Minstrel at the straight entrance in the Seaview Handicap, the second leg of the T.A.-B. double, and R. W. Townley, the driver of Soldier Gal, was found guilty of careless driving. His horseman’s licence was suspended until October 1, inclusive. F. Oliver, the driver of Admire in the A. E. Laing Handicap, was fined £l5 for careless driving after an incident with six furlongs to run in the event. It was found that Admire was pulling hard and climbed into the sulky of Vista Abbey, breaking and checking several runners. Soon after the start of the New Brighton Stakes, Pimienta, driven by' C. T. Woodward, broke and checked Cardinal King and .Bragen. No further action was taken.
Crowd And Tote Although attendance figures were down by more than 2000. on-course totalisator investments at Addington Raceway on Saturday showed an increase over a night meeting last year. However. off-course betting showed a sharp drop. A crowd of 6270. against 8440. invested £98.708. including £15.699 on the two doubles, compared with £95.883 Off-course betting amounted to £74,208 15s, including £35.483 5s on the double, compared with £97,043 10s.
