MEXICAN RUNNERS

N.Z. Tour Is Planned (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The New Zealand athletic coach, Mr A. L. Lydiard, hopes to bring 14 athletes from Mexico on an unofficial trip in November, he said in a letter to an Auckland friend last week. The only uncertainty was the number of Mexican athletes who would be coming, said Mr Lydiard. He had applied to the Mexican Government to bring 14. The team would include six marathon runners, one steeplechaser, a half-miler, a miler and some three and six milers. The trip will last three weeks if the runners stay in Auckland and six weeks if the Waikato Athletic Centre is successful in negotiations to have the runners perform in its area. The team will be in Auckland for the last two weeks of November and the first week of December. The marathon runners will compete in the Owairaka marathon on December 3.
