ANOTHER CRASH
Starfighter 63rd Lost (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) BONN, September 18. A West German Starfighter jet crashed in Arizona on Friday—the sixty-third lost in five years, the Defence Ministry announced yesterday. It was the second Starfighter crash at Fort Luke air base in two days. The pilot, an American flying instructor, baled out but was seriously injured. The Defence Ministry said the supersonic jet crashed immediately after take-off from the air base where German pilots are being trained. So did the Stariighter which crashed at Fort Luke on Thursday. Its pilot, a German, ejected safely. Since 1961, When thb Luftwaffe took delivery of the complicated American-de-signed aircraft, 36 pilots have died in crashes.
