FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A depression covers most of the Tasman Sea and a cold front is moving slowly east over New Zealand. Forecast: Nelson.—Moderate northerly winds; changeable, with scattered showers; little change in temperature. Buller and Westland.—Moderate variable winds, mainly northerly; variable skies with occasional rain; moderate temperatures. Canterbury.—Moderate north-easterlies on the coast; fresh north-westerlies in some inland places; becoming partly cloudy, except for occasional showers in the western ranges; little chance in temperatures. Marlborough.—North to north-west winds, occasionally strong about Cook Strait; rain at first: becoming partly cloudy except for scattered showers; little change in temperatures. Outlook: all districts.—Occasional showers. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
