Thousands Of Pennies
Forty members of the Christchurch Junior Chamber are still hard at work counting money from penny-a-meal boxes. So far they have counted 312,000 pennies weighing three-quarters of a ton—£l3oo—and 50,000 halfpennies amounting to £lO4. Most boxes have been recovered, but some householders were not at home when the collectors called. The Jaycees ask any person who still has boxes to telephone 30-819 (week-ends only) and 64-992 (week days). The money will be used for famine relief in India.
