Obituary

MRS R. COLLISTER

Mrs Rae Collister, a wellknown welfare worker in the Kaiapoi district, died recently at her home. Mrs Collister had been secretary of the women’s auxiliairy of the Returned Services’ Association since 1952. Many successful functions owed their success to her enthusiasm and drive.

During the Second World War Mrs Collister was a major in the Women’s War Service Auxiliary and an active member of the Patriotic Committee.

For many years she was an active member of the Red Cross Society, an officer of the Women’s Institute, and on the committee of the Kaiapoi School Ex-Pupils’ Association.

Mrs Collister is survived by her husband and son.

MISS M. WILKIE

Miss Margaret Wilkie, for nearly 30 years a senior homecraft teacher throughout the South Island, died in Christchurch recently. Miss Wilkie obtained her home science diploma from the School of Home Science at the University of Otago. She then taught at Westport High School and Southland Technical High School. For 20 years Miss Wilkie was women’s principal at the Christchurch Technical College girls’ training hostel.
