Cooking Queen Chosen
Mrs N. R. Ashby has won the Riccarton Hall housewives’ cooking queen contest. Each entrant had to make a cake, a sponge and a dessert. Mrs Ashby's selection was an iced chocolate cake, a passion fruit sponge and a parfait dessert.
Second place went to Mrs I. Whiting and Mrs A. Brown was third. First prize was an electric fry pan, second an electric carving knife and third a large parcel of cooking products. All food submitted was sent to Nazareth House. The judge was Miss J. Smith, of Kaiapoi.
