fIV.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) LONDON, Sept 16. The sinking of the Hal was the fifth submarine loss since the end of World War 11. The worst submarine disaster and the most recent sinking until now was the loss of the nuclear -pow e re d U. S. S. Thresher in the Atlantic on April 11. 1963, at the cost of 129 lives. She plunged for a routine dive about 220 miles off Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and disappeared.
