Palisade Out Of Cups

(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. Palisade, one of New Zealand’s top stayers, has been scratched from the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups. The Ruthless gelding was top-weight in the Melbourne Cup with 9-6 and was given 9-5 in the Caulfield Cup, only one pound less than the topweight, Craftsman. Palisade, owned by Mr A. T. Ottrey, resumed training under D. P. Wilson at Wingatui less than a month ago. Although he is doing nieely in a fresh preparation, his connexions do not think he would be ready for a campaign in Melbourne in the spring.
