RUGBY COLTS
That the future of Canterbury Rugby is in good hands has been demonstrated by the success of the Canterbury Colts team so far this season. In three matches it has scored 20 tries; scoring 73 points while 25 have been scored against it
Town Colts beat Country Colts, 21-5, and then the team has gone on to beat Canterbury Maoris, 31-6, and South Canterbury Colts, 31-14. The two wings, T. Wallis and G. Walkinshaw, have scored seven tries and the centre, M. Brown (Old Boys), has five. Wallis, one of eight members of the University of Canterbury club in the side, has taken over the role of goalkicker and against South Canterbury kicked six goals in seven attempts. One member of
the side, A. Jones (St. Bede’s College), the halfback, is still at school. Two particularly promising country forwards, G. Henderson (Culverden) and S. Pain (Cheviot) and S. Pain (Cheviot), have given vigour to the pack which includes five University players. R. Mahan has proved a fine captain. The team is:— D. Papps (University B); T. Wallis (University A), M.
