Driver Thrown

Across Creek

(From Our Own Reporter/ TIMARU, Sept. 9.

The driver of a car which hit the end of a bridge and plunged into a creek at Otaio. 17 miles south of Timaru, this morning, was apparently thrown 12ft across the creek to the opposite bank. The creek is 12ft deep. The driver, Michael Patrick Coman. a land agent, of 25A Archer street, Timaru. was seen by a passing motorist standing on the bank, dazed.

The motorist took Mr Coman to the Timaru Hospital. Mr Coman suffered concussion. facial lacerations, a fractured jaw, and a lacerated eye. His condition was described late tonight as fair.

Constable R. Rrown. of St Andrews, said that the car which was travelling north on the main road, hit the end of the bridge at Horseshoe bend Mr Coman had not been in the water. The car was recovered this afternoon. i>
