LAKE A CHURCH SITE

Reclamation Well Advanced

The first stage of a project to change Lake Bryndwr into a church site was now well advanced, said the Rev. J. Curnow, parish priest of Wai-rakei-Bishopdale. The lake, owned since the middle of last year by the Roman Catholic Church, would be partly filled to provide land for building. Father Curnow said that nine of the lake’s 12 acres would be filled.

The present work included tidying the surrounding shore, and building a causeway across the lake to seal off that part to be filled.
