Machinists’ Course

A planing and moulding machine known as a “foursider” will be presented to the building department of the Christchurch Technical Institute next Tuesday by the president of the Canterbury Timber Merchants’ Association (Mr R. Brownlee) on behalf of the association. The Education Department is providing several other machines. All will be housed in room C 3 of the Fife street building which will become the wood machining shop.

The machines will be used to train timber merchants’ machinists during a course expected to start in about a fortnight. For 1967, block courses or day relief classes have been proposed. A course for joinery machinists from all parts of New Zealand has been running for sometime. About 12 students, all machinists, are expected to attend the new course.
