GLASGOW, Sept. 8.

A giant Scotch whisky company is donating £50.000 for research work into alcoholism.

It will give the money to the Scottish Hospital Endowment Research Trust in Edinburgh in 10 annual instalments of £5OOO.

“Donating money for research into alcoholism is something we have considered for some time.” a spokesman for company said. “There is no doubt that there is concern about alcoholism as a disease. We will be very happy indeed if this money can help research." In Glasgow, the chairman of the Council of Alcoholism said: “This has come as a great boost for our research work. We have been held up for a long time by lack of funds.”
