Clarke To Go To Coaching School
The 1966 New Zealand representative, G. H. Clarke (Papanui), is one of three Canterbury players selected to attend the national Rugby League coaching school in Rotorua from October 2 to 9.
The others are the 1965 South Island hooker, W. P. Noonan (Linwood) and the utility player, E. Kereopa (Linwood). Clarke, who was a replacement in the second test against Britain, has represented Canterbury 14 times since 1963, including all nine games this season. He played for the Southern XIII this year, was a South Island reserve, and coaching school representative in 1964 and in 1956 was a schoolboy Kiwi. The 20-y ear-old Noonan also played in all nine games this season, and his total is 13. He played for South Island last year and was a reserve for the 1966 Southern XIII.
After making his debut as a wing, Kereopa moved into the forwards this season and played six matches for Canterbury. The unsuccessful nominations from Canterbury were R. A. Neiman (Hornby), S.
Dunn (Papanui), and B. Williams (Kaiapoi).
