CITY HIRING OFFICE
Manufacturer’s Experiment The employment officer of Lane, Walker, Rudkin, Ltd. (Mr V. M. Busby), said yesterday that his firm had opened a city employment office in Colombo street. ‘‘We are faced with the prospect of meeting expansion and clearly we must expand our staff,” said Mr Busby. “We are simply making it a little easier for those thinking of working here so they don’t have to walk to our Sydenham factory.” Mr Busby said his firm wanted more staff all the time. A woman receptionist, trained in employee selection, was the only occupant of the Christchurch employment office. But the firm had regular employment officers in its Sydenham building.
